What to Expect
At Karuna Therapeutic Services, we offer a range of therapeutic services to support individuals and families with their emotional well-being. Entering a therapeutic relationship can be a bit daunting, especially if this is for the first time. I want to make this process as easy as possible and am happy to make reasonable adjustments to the way I do things so that I can best meet your individual needs. If you have specific needs that you wish to share this can be really helpful either when you contact me via email or the contact form or when we first talk.
-
After I receive a message from you expressing an interest in counselling, breathwork or parent support I will respond back as soon as I am able via your preferred method (email, text or call).
-
For an initial consultation I am happy for us to talk for 10-15 minutes so I can gain an understanding of your needs and goals. There will be no charge for this service, you can book this online here.
-
We will then book an initial appointment so that we can meet either online or in person and further discuss what you would like to achieve and I can share with you how I work and how I think I may be able to support you to reach your goals.
-
If you opt for in-person support this will be from the counselling rooms I practice from at 16 Crawthorne Road, Peterborough, PE1 4AB (pictures below). If you wish for online support then I will send you a meeting link for Zoom for each session booked.
-
I am able to provide both short term and long term support, this will be dependant on your wishes and the type of support you feel you need. This is something that we can review throughout our time working together. My aim is always to empower therapy partner to live their life free from what is holding them back.
-
After our initial meeting, we will decide when we meet and how often. This is usually made at the same day and time each week. I work term-time only, dates of breaks will be given at first session. I understand that life can get in the way at times, but I do request 48 hours notice of any cancellations if this is honoured then no fee will be charged.
-
I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I use a variety of theoretical approaches and techniques when it comes to helping people with the feelings of distress that they are experiencing. My aim is to suit my approach to the difficulties that you are experiencing, as you are unique and it is not one size fits all.
-
I am registered member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as such I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling profession. My registration number and logo is at the bottom of each page. More information can be found on their website www.bacp.co.uk.
-
I am fully GDPR compliant and am registered with the ICO, as well as having an enhanced DBS on the update service. I take my clients data and privacy seriously. All data collected is kept securely in electronic format only and is destroyed after 5 years in line with the requirements of my insurance company. I adhere to current data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU/2016/679) (the GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.
-
Karuna Therapeutic Services has a Facebook Page and Instagram account, you are free to follow me on these social media accounts. If we enter into a therapeutic relationship together, I will not interact with you on social media other than liking comments. This is to retain your privacy. I also have private accounts on social media, however, again for privacy and confidentiality reasons I will not add clients to these accounts.
-
My fees are listed on the pricing page, this is subject to review at the start of each new financial year and all clients will be given at least 4 weeks notice of any changes. Payment of fees is required 48 hours before the start of the session, if this is not honoured the session will be cancelled.
I hope this provides some insight into what to expect when coming to counselling, breathwork or parent support. I like to try and be as flexible and adaptable, as I can be and your comfort and safety are important to me. If there is anything that you feel I have missed then drop me a line and I will happily discuss with you any queries or concerns. Wishing you well.
